The Mahwah Township Council on Thursday unanimously voted to walk back two ordinances that are the subject of a nine-count lawsuit filed by the state Attorney General’s Office.
The council has been trying to block the expansion of an eruv and, with a restrictive new park ordinance, the feared “Infiltration” of Orthodox Jews.
Robert Hermansen, Mahwah council president, speaks during an October meeting.
The council could have offered an apology to Mahwah residents and to all who perceive Mahwah is a community focused on exclusion rather than inclusion.
